Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

General

What is Soorse?

Soorse is a professional networking platform built around trusted Groups. Instead of cold connections or open social feeds, Soorse helps people connect through verified organizations, clubs, nonprofits, alumni groups, teams, and professional associations they already belong to.

How is Soorse different from LinkedIn or social media?

Soorse is group-first, not feed-first. Discovery is driven by shared affiliations, not algorithms. Profiles are contextual, access is intentional, and engagement is tied to real organizations and real communities.

Who is Soorse for?

Soorse is designed for:

  • Professionals and community members
  • Nonprofits and foundations
  • Alumni associations, schools, clubs, and teams
  • Group leaders seeking engagement, visibility, and sustainable funding

For Members

Is Soorse free to use?

Yes. Soorse is free to use.

A paid subscription is only required if you want:

  • Membership in more than 5 Groups, and/or
  • The ability to message people who are not your direct Soorses (connections)

All other core features remain available on the free tier.

What privacy controls do I have?

You can control your profile visibility at any time:

  • Public: Your profile is searchable by anyone using the Soorse landing page or main search bar.
  • Private: Your profile is discoverable only by members of Groups you belong to.

This gives you full control over how broadly you want to be discovered.

What do I get with a paid membership?

A paid subscription unlocks premium features such as:

  • Joining additional Groups beyond the free limit
  • Expanded contact visibility
  • Direct messaging beyond immediate connections
  • Supporting your Groups through revenue sharing

How does my subscription support my Groups?

When you subscribe, a portion of your monthly fee is shared with the nonprofit Groups you actively participate in, helping provide ongoing support driven by engagement.

Can I see how much I've contributed?

Member contribution dashboards are under construction and will be available in a future release.

For Groups & Group Admins

What is a Group on Soorse?

A Group represents a real organization — such as a nonprofit, school, alumni association, club, foundation, or professional organization — with designated administrators and members.

Who can create a Group?

Any individual may create a Group provided the Group and its activities are lawful in the applicable jurisdiction and comply with Soorse's Terms & Conditions. Certain features require additional verification.

What tools do Group Admins get?

Group Admins can:

  • Manage members and invitations
  • Publish announcements and content
  • Promote events
  • Add events to the Group calendar
  • Enable monetization (where eligible)
  • View engagement insights (dashboards under construction)

How does monetization work?

Currently, only verified 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations may enable monetization on Soorse.

When enabled, a portion of member subscription revenue is shared with the nonprofit based on engagement and participation.

Is monetization required?

No. Groups may exist purely for communication, visibility, and engagement without monetization.

Nonprofits & Foundations

How does Soorse verify nonprofits?

Nonprofits undergo verification using EIN checks and payment-processor validation before monetization is enabled.

Is Soorse a donation platform?

Yes. Soorse supports direct donations to eligible nonprofit Groups.

As is standard practice, transaction processing fees are typically paid by the donor, with the full net donation amount passed through to the nonprofit.

Soorse does not take a platform fee on donations.

Can nonprofits track contributions?

Administrative dashboards for contribution tracking are under development and will be released in a future update.
